Audi tt wallpapers 2011-2012
The Audi TT is a vehicle that is produced by Audi in Hungary. The Audi TT was first seen in 1995 as a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The TT abbreviation is for "Tourist Trophy" which is an annual road race on the Isle of Man. Many people mistakenly believe that the TT is short for twin turbo, but that is an incorrect assumption. To dispel the idea that the TT is short for twin turbo, it's important to note that even the turbocharged models have a single turbocharger. The Audi TT has always been one of the most bold and evolutionary designs, truly unique and in a class of its own. The TT had the ability to make consumers that would have never considered an Audi really take a look at the whole lineup.
The first production model was released as a coupe in the fall of 1998 and then a roadseter in the fall of 1999. This first generation used the Volkswagen A platform that was used for the well known Volkswagen Golf. The Audi TT has a transversely mounted engine with either front or Quattro all wheel drive. Audi equipped the TT with a 2.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. All of the Audi TT models were recalled in 1999 and 2000 because of a general concern about the handling of the car when turning corners at high speed. Changes were made to the suspension and rear spoilers to fix the issues and the car has continued to sell and drive well with no concerns.
Audi plans to release a second generation of the TT for the 2007 or 2008 model year. Audi has already announced that this second generation would be made of aluminum with production starting by 2007. Audi estimates that the new, second generation TT will retail at or around $30,000.
